King Abdulaziz University (KAU) participated in the sixth edition of the Water Research
Community Forum, organized by the Saudi Water Authority, held in Manchester, United
Kingdom. The university was represented by three specialized research centers, which
presented six high-impact scientific projects aimed at advancing innovation and technology
in the fields of water security and environmental sustainability. The forum was attended by a
distinguished group of experts and decision-makers from both Saudi Arabia and abroad.

The event saw the presence of His Excellency Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkarim,
President of the Saudi Water Authority, alongside representatives from several international
universities, including Professor Stephen Flint, Vice President for International Affairs at the
University of Manchester. The forum highlighted the depth of scientific collaboration and
academic exchange between Saudi and global institutions.

During the forum, the Center of Excellence in Environmental Studies presented the
outcomes of several research projects focused on energy conservation and water resource
management, including a key project under a multi-disciplinary research chair aimed at
developing advanced solutions for environmental sustainability through the integration of
environmental sciences and technology.

The Center of Excellence in Desalination Technology introduced innovative technological
solutions to improve the efficiency of water treatment and desalination processes.
Meanwhile, the Center for Nanotechnology showcased scientific outputs focusing on
cutting-edge technologies to enhance water quality and address complex environmental
challenges.

King Abdulaziz University emphasized that its participation reflects its leading role in
promoting scientific research and innovation in fields of national priority, foremost among
them water security and environmental sustainability, in alignment with the goals of Saudi
Vision 2030, which seeks to build a sustainable, knowledge-based economy rooted in
research and development.

Through this engagement, the university aims to strengthen local and international
partnerships, develop joint research initiatives, and facilitate knowledge transfer to deliver
effective, sustainable solutions to the water-related challenges facing the Kingdom and the
broader region.
